Medi-Cal

Medi-Cal pays for a variety of medical services for individuals with limited financial resources. It is supported by federal and state taxes. Anyone can apply for Medi-Cal benefits, regardless of age, sex, race, religion, marital status, or veteran status. If you are found eligible, you can get Medi-Cal so long as you meet the eligibility requirements.

Medicare Part A

Medicare Part A focuses on the cost of health care, providing coverage for medical care at hospitals. Under some circumstances, it covers home health services, hospice care, and skilled nursing facilities. However, nursing home costs may be covered for only a limited period of time.

Medicare Part B

Medicare Part B covers the expenses of medical care outside of hospitals, including doctor visits, lab tests, and outpatient procedures. It also covers the costs of equipment and services, such as wheelchairs, oxygen tanks, and ambulance rides, related to health care. Part B also covers preventive care, like screenings for heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers.

Medicare Part C

Medicare Part C, also known as Medicare Advantage Plans, is a private insurance option provided by companies like Humana, Aetna, SCAN, Kaiser and UnitedHealth. Part C requires paying premiums to the insurer for coverage beyond what Parts A and B offer. The cost and scope of these plans vary, so it’s important to choose the one that best fits your needs. They are a helpful option for seniors who don’t qualify for Medi-Cal as they pay for co-insurance costs that Medi-Cal would cover.

Medicare Part D

Medicare Part D offers coverage for prescription drugs.
